by Snow-shoeing – Cross Country Skiing – Walking

Reminder: The theme for the photo contest of 2012 will be « Potton in winter»

Sunday, January 8th, 1 p.m.: Easy excursion, snow-shoeing or cross-country skiing in the Nature Reserve between Sugar Loaf & Elephantis Mountains. Meet : 50, Hilmar Krausser road.

Saturday, January 14, 10:30 a.m.: Easy snow-shoe excursion on Missisquoi-Nord paths around historic village of St-Etienne-de-Bolton. Lunch at « Bistrot Sympa » (10 $) at 1:00 p.m. Wine available at the restaurant. Meet for carpooling at the corner of Westhill & route # 243. Reservation for lunch before January 8th with Edith (450) 292-0547

Saturday, January 21, 10 a.m.: Easy snow-shoe excursion on a forest trail along the Missisquoi creek, outlet of Sugar Loaf pond which leads to the Missisquoi river. Meet: 87, Sugar Loaf pond road. Hosts: Yolande (450) 292-0430 & Rachel

Saturday, January 28, 10 a.m.: Easy excursion, snow-shoeing or cross-country skiing, on Owl’s head golf course with a 360? panoramic view. Meet: 181, Owl’s head road.

Saturday, February 4, 10 a.m.: Easy snow-shoe excursion along the old railroad of the Missisquoi Valley. Meet: 89, Fontaine road. Hosts:

Saturday, February 11: Valentine party
(2 activity groups: 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.)

4 p.m. : Easy snow-shoe excursion along the Missisquoi. Meet at: place du Moulin. Bring headlight or other flashlight.
5 p.m.: skating at Park André Gagnon on route 243.
6 :30 p.m : Potluck supper at the Anglican Church. Bring a dish & beverage. Live Music with Jean-Pierre Tanguay.

Saturday, February 18: Easy snow-shoeing or cross-coubtry excursion on private trails and visit the pipe-line site in Highwater and learn with JP Gravel about he risk of a possible spillage of oil and the impact on our natural heritage. Meet: 43, route de Mansonville.

Saturday, February 25, 10 a.m. : Easy snow-shoe excursion on a forest trail near the « Chapelle St-Agnes » vineyard. Lunch at the vineyard: 17,16 $ (taxes included). Wine available. Reservation before February 11 with Carol (514) 481-6279. Meet: 2565 Scenic road, Glen Sutton.

Saturday, March 3d, 2 groups
8 a.m. : snow-shoe excursion (difficult: 4h) to Singer Mountain with Frank Ruiz.
10 a.m. : Intermediate excursion, snow-shoeing or cross-country skiing on the Ruiter Valley Land Trust.

Saturday, March 10, 10 a.m. : easy excursion, snow-shoeing or cross-country skiing, crossing the Clark hill on an old road that was used by first settlers. Meet for carpooling from Manson square. Hosts: Jacques & Marcelle (450) 292-3629

Sunday, March 18: General Assembly. Details to come.

NB: Excursions are free for members of the Potton Heritage Association, 5 $ for others. Excursions are cancelled when the weather does not cooperate. If there is not enough snow, we walk!
Lunch: you are invited for a hot soup & cheese by a member of the Association after the excursion for a 5 $ contribution. Bring your wine. Please, confirm your presence with the hosts a few days before each excursion since room is limited.
