Sunday, May 15th, 1:30 pm
Our President, Sandra Jewett, will present a talk entitled “A Community in Distress – The Typhoid Epidemic of 1923”, an event in which 205 citizens were afflicted and sixteen died. Presentation in French; however questions will be answered in French and in English. A light lunch will follow the lecture. Free admission. For information call Janine 450-292-3780.
Saturday, June 11th, 2 pm [Please note the time in afternoon]
Guided visit to Miltimore cemetery at the corner of Miltimore Road and Route 243 South; then a walk to Chapel Hill cemetery. The history of the people who lived in that area will be told by Sandra Jewett. Following there will be a BBQ at Carol’s place, 52 Hilmar-Krausser. Cost $10, bring your own beverage. Walk in the woods. Learn how nature is restorative and therapeutic. Bernadette Rey will guide us in the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku (literally forest bathing). This practice is known to enhance the immune system. Meet at Beatrice and Karsten’s place : 418 Leadville. Cost $ 10. Bring your lunch and beverage, and chair and bathing suit. Tuesday, July 19th, 10 am
Visit to the Walbridge dodecagonal barn on chemin de Mystic in Saint-Ignace-de-Stanbridge. This barn is one of the exhibition sites of the Musée Missisquoi along with the Cornell mill and the Hodge General store, that are situated in Stanbridge East which is 6 km from the barn. Possibility of picnicking on site, so bring your lunch. Entrance fee of $ 8. Meet in the parking lot in Mansonville, near the CIBC, for car pool. One of our most popular events… our corn roast on the shores of Lake Memphremagog, at the Municipal beach at Perkins Landing. Bring a salad or dessert to share. Bring your own beverage and water, if desired, along with your place setting and glass. Duration, around 3 hours.
