Welcome Sandra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the 22nd Annual General Meeting of the Potton Heritage Association held April 1st 2012, we had the opportunity to thank Hans Walser for his 7 years as President and to welcome Sandra Jewett as new President.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 521px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Hans and Sandra - Sculpture by Almut Ellinghaus\" src=\"https:\/\/patrimoinepotton.org\/blogue\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/AG_2012_01.jpg\" alt=\"Hans and Sandra\" width=\"521\" height=\"462\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hans and Sandra - Sculpture by Almut Ellinghaus<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>A word from our new President<\/h2>\n<p>Our Annual General Meeting, held April 1st was quite an event!\u00a0 It was entirely fitting that the vagueries of air travel from Cuba should play a trick or two by delaying the arrival of Jean-Louis, our Secretary.\u00a0\u00a0 Jacques was quickly conscripted as \u00ab\u00a0scribe for a day\u00a0\u00bb.\u00a0 In Yolande\u2019s absence, Serge donned the Treasurer\u2019s cap and presented our financial statements; and without skipping a beat, proceeded with his web master\u2019s report.\u00a0 Carol and Edith did a lovely job of organizing our luncheon and making the room spring-like and inviting.\u00a0 Thanks go to all of them.<\/p>\n<p>As you know, Hans has decided to step down as our President.\u00a0 Yesterday was his last in the Chair; lending a bitter sweetness to the AGM.\u00a0 Hans has been a force to reckon with on Potton Heritage.\u00a0 He has been our very hardworking Chairman for 7 years, and a member of the Association since 1992.\u00a0 In addition to his wise financial management, his legacy of accomplishments is impressive.\u00a0 Central to these of course, was his untiring work to save, obtain citation and protection of the Round Barn in Mansonville, as well as the Province Hill covered bridge, both important heritage elements of Potton.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, I was honoured to be elected President, and thus, privileged to say the following to Hans on your behalf:\u00a0 \u00ab\u00a0<em>You have put your heart and soul, and considerable talent into making us into the well-respected group that we are in our Township.\u00a0 You have kept us current\u2013 keen and interested and in the forefront of those places where we needed to be\u2026 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2026not only you have been our leader and public face, keenly devoted to the preservation of the heritage of this Township; but you have also devoted yourself to the progress of Potton.\u00a0 History will continue to unveil your legacy and show the influence of your leadership of this Association \u2013 of that I am certain!\u00a0 You have given much of yourself to us.\u00a0 For years, you have not only listened but heard \u2013 researched and understood, observed and participated as a productive member of committee after committee; at each, generously\u00a0offering considered and concise observations on questions which would frustrate many.\u00a0 To each you have given the benefit of your considerable experience. \u00a0 If you were met with tenaciousness equal to your own, you restated your position and continued onward!\u00a0 In my opinion, few problems have presented themselves to you as insurmountable.\u201d\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p>I am personally grateful that Hans will remain as member of the Board of Directors.\u00a0 Inevitably, I will bring my own style and \u00abflavour\u00bb to the Board \u2013 and with your encouragement, continue the legacy of our previous presidents.\u00a0 I feel most privileged and look forward to your continued support of Potton Heritage Association.<\/p>\n<p>Sincerely \u2013 Sandra Jewett<\/p>\n<h2>2012-2013 Board of Directors<\/h2>\n<p>The following picture presents, in order, the newly elected Members of the Board\u00a0: Jacques Huppertz, Denis Lamontagne, Hans Walser, Sandra Jewett, \u00c9dith\u00a0Smeesters, Carol Bishop and Serge Normand. <em>Yolande Lamontagne and Jean-Louis Bertrand were not present. <\/em>Hans is holding our gift to him, a garden sculpture by Almut Ellinghaus, a Ruiter Valley artist<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 896px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Members from the Board of Directors\" src=\"https:\/\/patrimoinepotton.org\/blogue\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/AG_2012_021.jpg\" alt=\"Members from the Board of Directors\" width=\"896\" height=\"355\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Members from the Board of Directors<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We would like to remind you that it is time to<a href=\"https:\/\/pottonheritage.org\/?page_id=54\"> renew your membership <\/a>for the current year.
